South Shields Public Meeting – 19 October 2023

I’m holding meetings across the region so you can meet me in person and ask me questions. I’ll explain my vision for an integrated Total Transport Network, a Green New Deal for our local businesses and economy, and how we get a decent job for everyone. Decide for yourself if my plans make sense.

I’ve been North of Tyne Metro Mayor since 2019. In my manifesto I promised to unite the North and South of our region so we can control our own transport system. I’ve fulfilled that promise and landed £4.3 billion of investment for us – it’s about time the North East got our fair share.

In May 2024 you’ll get to elect the Mayor of the new, expanded, North East Mayoral Combined Authority. I’m standing in that election as an independent candidate who’ll put region before party.

Tickets are free, but please book in advance using the Eventbrite link to guarantee a place. Doors will be open from 6.30pm. This is a public meeting so photos and video may be taken. Whilst we will do our best to accommodate you, we cannot guarantee that any particular image will not be shared on social media. The venue is fully accessible.

No public money is being spent on this event. All funds come from crowdfunding. 6,000 people have donated to my grassroots campaign. Town Hall meetings are an important part of my campaign to become the North East Mayor. I’m aiming to visit every main population centre in the North East Mayoral region and leaflet around each one. Every penny of our campaign funds will be essential to do that. So if you’ve already donated, thank you.
