Green New Deal
- Green Industrial Revolution
We are supporting programmes to engage children and young adults ages 8 to 19. It will support our children and young people to explore key climate change themes, consider how we might work towards net zero and engage in STEM and Digital subjects. This innovative work will help to generate interest in climate change for young residents through the lens of STEM and Digital subjects.
In primary schools science specialists from Newcastle University delivered hands on session like measuring biodiversity and the impact of fast fashion.
In secondary schools they work on real world engineering challenges set by engineering companies. It includes visits to engineering companies and local engineers coming into the schools to host workshops.
For sixth-formers we’ve set up the Gaming Challenge. It’s an amazing opportunity for young people interested in a career in gaming to work with local computer game companies and develop their own game relating to climate change.
